EARDRUM PRODUCTIONS |
Charlie started composing and learning recording techniques at a young age, studying classical guitar and piano (Repton School/ Trinity College London.) He continued his musical education at university, playing as a session musician for bands and collectives in the late 90's/ early 00's. During this period he immersed himself in learning the art of digital music production and after working as a producer for award winning internet station Radio Magnetic he decided to set up Eardrum Productions in 2004.
Since then Charlie has enjoyed success in the industry, composing and producing music from orchestral to contemporary styles for feature film, documentary and drama (see credits.) In 2007, his work on Panorama Special: Taking on the Taliban (produced and directed by Robin Barnwell) helped earn the production two Royal Television Society nominations. Charlie has since composed and produced the scores for a host of documentaries including two for Channel 4's Jon Snow. He has recently completed a series for the BBC presented by George Alagiah and his music can be heard every other minute of the day on Paramount Comedy Central who recently commissioned him to create new ident music for their UK channel.
In 2008 sound designer and producer Matthew Samuel teamed up with Charlie. Matthew, a talented multi-instrumentalist decided early on to dedicate himself entirely to the art of production and since graduating from the SAE is now a successful Pro Tools producer and engineer with extensive experience in advertising, film and television. Together they have produced a large volume of commercial work (see credits) as well as producing the work of other recording artists, most recently that of Chinese composer KimHo Ip.
